Basketball – Boys
The 13’s lost to Oxley, who proved to be too good 24-46.
Basketball – Girls
The 1sts had a great start this week, racing out of the gates and showing Barker that we can be a contender in this league. The game was back and forth but ultimately Barker got the better of us. It was a tough and competitive game which will only build our character. The girls went down 46-62.
Cricket
Another cracking day for cricket on Saturday, with the ovals at Oxford Falls prepared beautifully and the weather nigh on perfect. Unfortunately, we lost the toss and were put into field. St Pius X posted an imposing 10/203 from 43 overs. With the ball Finn K (3/29) and Hugh W (3/32) the standout bowlers. In reply, a good opening partnership from Rohan D and Moses R was not enough to get us home. Finn K top scored with 39 not out and Harry M made 33 in a valiant 9/132 chase. Finn also captained the side in a really mature and impressive manner. The other side’s coaches and even their Principal were full of praise for his leadership.
Softball
Despite two losses, to their credit, the girls are improving each week. Danni pitched for the first time in a match and Abbie M was amazing as catcher for both games. Abbie was awarded the team spirit award. Chev lost to Central Coast Grammar 0-17 and 5-20.
Touch Football
The Intermediate B girls went down 2 to 4 to Redlands.
The girls’ junior B team were on fire this Saturday, beating Barker 7 to 1.
The girls’ junior D team lost 0 to 13 against a very skilled Barker opponent. The girls applied the feedback and advice from training sessions in the game and tried new tactics and skills. It was wonderful to see their sportsmanship at the end of the game when they congratulated their opponent with three cheers.
