ISA Winter Round 5

Football (Soccer) – Boys

2nds – won 6-0 against Oxley.

15s – won 3-2. On a magnificent winter’s day, the boys played well against SSC, Bathurst, coming out on top. They worked on the basics and all members of the team did their job well.

14s – won 5-0. The team played the first half into a strong headwind, doing well to keep the score nil all at halftime. In the second half our passing spread the opposition and enabled the team to run away with the victory.

Football (Soccer) – Girls

1sts – lost 1 nil. A hard-fought game with the 2nd place team even at nil all until a late controversial penalty saw BMGS get a lucky goal from the penalty spot. An amazing game with the Goalie Ciara B who saved a dozen shots on goal and was hit in the back by the BMGS striker during one attack on goal. A lot of good runs by Lucy T, Ventia B, Gabby G, Lily S, and Amy saw on the BMGS goal. The team was led well in the middle by Co-Captains Lily and Sienna.

Junior As – won 1-0. Wonderful game. Girls dominated for the entire game and were rewarded with a goal by Celeste R!!

Junior Bs – lost 3-0. We managed to field ten players because of illness and injury today but we still gave a good account of ourselves. Special mention goes to our captain for today, Abby Davenport, who played her last game for the team before she heads north. Abby finished with a strong defensive game and she never stopped running.

Hockey

Junior As – won 3-1. The girls had a great game today. Their teamwork was awesome, as was their short passes and enthusiasm on the field. A great game to watch.

Netball

1sts – won 63-68. Strong performance by the whole team with great circle feeding by Logan and Bella and lots of energy from mid courters Izzy and Liv. The team won through with dominant shooting by Annabel and Emily and the defensive end of Ruby, Hayley, Annie and Sienna shut-in down the opposition and getting plenty of turnovers.

Inter As – won 52-37. This was our first win for the season against a side that has enjoyed a lot of success this year. It was rather nice to win!

Inter Cs – won 35-20 against Redlands. A well played game by all girls, some excellent teamwork to hold onto their early lead throughout the game. Redlands played a strong third quarter, but Chev put in an excellent effort in the final quarter to further extend their lead.

Junior Bs – lost 21-26. After leading for the first three quarters, we just could not hold back a fast-finishing Redlands, who put on 14 goals in the last quarter to win 26-21. There were many positive to take away from the match.

Junior Ds – won 21-17. It was a top of the table clash against Redlands. It was closely contested, with the lead changing hands several times, but our team found an extra gear in the last 10 minutes to pull ahead and take the win.

Rugby

Rugby teams had a bye.

Tennis

Chev 1 – won 8 sets to nil. Another excellent display of singles and doubles by Molly, Augo, James and Riley. This maintains the unbeaten record this season and we currently sit on top of the table.

Chev 2 – lost 1 set to 7. In beautiful conditions, we played the first placed Central Coast Grammar. Although we lost the tie, we played very good tennis and were beaten by a better team on the day. Hannah and Shruthi deserve the mention for winning an excellent doubles in a tie break. Harry and Kaito also had narrow singles losses. All sets of tennis were played in a competitive, yet friendly, manner.

Chev 3 – lost 2 sets to 6. We played so well today and were unlucky not to win the overall tie. Rex and Jake lost very close singles in tie breaks, while Callum and Samson both tasted success in the reverse doubles ties with Rex and Jake. We continue to improve and remain competitive against all opposition.
